Even if you know that getting certified is a good idea, you might not fully appreciate the value of the product or service for which you are studying until after you have earned your certification. Working on an Ariba implementation/Support project before studying for the certification is recommended for those who want to get the most out of the experience. Despite this, the vast majority of those who administer certification exams do so in the hopes of gaining employment after passing them. Therefore, certification is most beneficial if it leads to employment in Ariba implementation or as a pre-sales consultant, or if it helps you gain entry into a project.
Although a current P2P certification will provide you with some foundational knowledge, it won’t go into great detail on how a system administrator will operate the system. When compared to SAP SRM, which is a complementary solution, the cloud-based nature of this one makes it less flexible in terms of customization and development. According to SAP’s website, “This certificate indicates that the candidate has an overall understanding within the SAP Ariba Procurement application consultant profile and can execute this knowledge practically in projects under the guidance of an experienced consultant.” It’s a good starting point for consultants interested in learning the basics of Ariba Procure-2-Pay.
On a scale from 1 to 10, It would grade the difficulty of this certification as a 6. It is not a challenging exam and consists of basic principles that you encounter in a P2P setting. Numerous basic questions and actual numbers are drawn from the materials in the study room, so it would be a mistake to skim over them.
So, how did I get ready?
To prepare for any certification exam, I always start with the books—in this case, Books 510, 520, and 530—recommended by the learning hub or the sap ariba tutorial. If you’re experiencing information overload, just keep going. After reading all three volumes the first time, reading them again would go by much more quickly, and you’d see that many of the same issues were covered multiple times across the novels. In what amount of time can I expect to finish this course?
It shouldn’t take more than 20 hours to read volumes 510, 520, and 530 the first time around, so you can finish them all in a matter of weeks. To get to the learning room materials, and sap ariba training it took me almost 35 hours to finish everything there. Overall, I spent around three to four weeks studying for the certification exam, and then I used the certification hub to schedule an online proctor and pass the exam on my second try.
